Steuben County Winter Hiking and Reading





Beechwood                                                                            
Beechwood is adjacent to Pokagon State Park.                   
and has a mixture of habitats including beech-                     
maple forest; yellow birch, red maple, red elm                    
and blue beech trees; rolling meadows; dogwood,             
elderberry and spicebush.                                                    
                                                                                           
                                                                                           
Ropchan                                                                            
Here is a ridge moraine, a kettlehole lake                            
and boulders from rocky outcrops frather                                 
north, visible evidence of the passing of the
great glaciers. Tamarack, yellow birch and
red maple grow there with tussocks of
cinnamon fern, mountain holly and
winterberry.

Wing Haven
Wing Haven had several beautiful little lakes
that are part of a chain of lakes. It has oak-
hickory forest, marsh and rolling meadows.
