Steuben Republican June 15, 1870
The tide of immigration continues to
flow in from Europe without abatement.
Each week brings its ship loads of people
seeking the 'promised land'-for America
is that and nothing less to the toiling
millions in Ireland, England, and on the
Continent. Since the 1st of January
last, 78,530 alien passengers were
registered at Castle Garden, New York.
